Faithful, Loyal, Firm and True: Cornerstones for the New Alumni Hall

UA currently boasts a living alumni population more than 200,000 strong, and with approximately 9,000 new alumni being added to the ranks on an annual basis, the size of the Crimson Tide nation is growing exponentially.

Although the current Alumni Hall has served the NAA well, it does not provide the space needed to accommodate the ever-expanding number of alumni. A new facility is required to capitalize on the opportunities that will be created through a growing alumni base, expanded staff and a strategic approach to alumni engagement and fundraising.

There are exciting plans underway for a new Alumni Hall, which will house the National Alumni Association staff as well as the Office of Development staff. The new three-story, 48,000-square-foot facility will have significant event and meeting space. With your support of the $10 million fundraising campaign, UA alumni will have a new place to call home.

Director’s Message

Picture of Calvin Brown

The University of Alabama holds a special place in my heart. The fond memories and lifelong friendships I made during my time as a student, as President of the National Alumni Association and now as Director of Alumni Affairs are the cornerstone of my affinity for this beloved university that I am proud to call home.

The National Alumni Association’s role is to serve our University family by welcoming our alumni home while supporting future generations of students. Because of the successful growth of the Capstone, our current facility lacks the capacity to serve our alumni properly. It is time for a new home for the National Alumni Association.

The University is generously contributing a significant portion of the funds needed to construct a new Alumni Hall; however we cannot proceed until we raise $10 million in charitable contributions. While we are excited to see these plans come to fruition, we are dependent on the financial support of our alumni and friends like you.

Our alumni and friends have had a long and dedicated history of supporting the Capstone, but there is still work to be done. I humbly ask that you consider helping us create a place for current and future alumni to call home.

About the Project

Rendering of LobbyThanks to strides made by NAA and University leadership within the last two years, plans for a new, larger Alumni Hall are underway. With more than 48,000 square feet, the new Alumni Hall will be located at Campus Drive on the Peter Bryce campus, nestled into an existing pecan grove. The facility will boast three stories, an executive boardroom, staff offices, conference rooms, an impressive ballroom for entertaining and a courtyard that overlooks the pecan grove.

Upon entering the new Alumni Hall, guests will be greeted by a grand staircase that will curve around the perimeter of the lobby onto the second floor. The first floor will feature a ballroom with a seating capacity of more than 400 people, as well as ample storage space. It will also house a gallery that focuses on the history of the University, along with two conference rooms, a boardroom and offices for the alumni publications staff.

The second floor will be lined with offices for the Alumni Affairs staff. The third floor will become the new home for the Office of Development, allowing these two offices within the Division of Advancement to capitalize on the opportunities that will be created through a growing alumni base, expanded staff and a strategic approach to alumni engagement and fundraising.

To honor the history of the University and its alumni, the doorframe of Temple Tutwiler Hall—the original Alumni Hall—will be replicated and used in the balcony overlooking the courtyard, reminding visitors of the past while encouraging engagement in the present and continued high expectations for the future.

The project is expected to cost more than $25 million when completed, and while the University is providing a significant portion of the funding, $10 million in charitable contributions must be raised before construction can proceed.
